The Sustainable Livestock Self-Assessment System (SAGAS) is a free, voluntary and confidential tool that the Paraguayan Roundtable of Sustainable Meat (MPCS) offers to all farmers, helping them to evaluate compliance of their establishments with the principles and criteria of sustainable meat production. It also provides a grade for each of the six principles under analysis: natural resources, individuals and community, animal health and welfare, food, economic efficiency, innovation and technology. The set of all the evaluations carried out by the different producers of all the regions of the country serves as a reference for Paraguay in the fulfillment of the values of economic, social and environmental sustainability. In addition, the results obtained allow the identification of areas that need improvement as a whole for the country’s producers or specifically for a certain region or area.
